Christmas was Awesome :D
On Christmas Eve the family that had already gathered sat in the Christmas room (for so it is called) and my dad read the Christmas story from the bible and we discussed the origin of Christmas. We then proceeded to open one present. That night I opened Final Fantasy 3 DS. Final Fantasy 3 DS marked the end of an era. Once it was released, all Final Fantasies had finally reached American soil. 'Tis a great game.
Instead of opening our presents Christmas morning, we decided to wait for the entire family to be present. That last to arrive was Alisha and Emma, understandably. Whilst waiting for them, I was content to be with my nephews. I grabbed up my nephew Asher and held him for a bit. After a while he seemed to want to walk around on his own, and so I let him down, which is when I caught sight of his shirt. It had the words only child crossed out and under them it said Big Brother. O_o Yep, Josh and Amber shall increase the size of their family soon.
Once everyone arrived, we attacked the Christmas room after the young ones couldn't stand to wait any longer. There was happiness all around as gifts were opened, especially from Emma. She got a High School Musical *shudders* cheerleader outfit and couldn't wait to put it on. I myself was very pleased with my gifts. I got four books. The Compound, Brisingr, Water for Elephants, and the fourth Leven Thumps book. Interestingly, I don't yet have the third book, so I ordered it online using the money I got from my grandfather. I also received Final Fantasy 4 DS (completely remade in 3D with voice acting and everything) and a missionary journal from Josh, which had an entry for Dec 25. Very heart warming it was. For most of the day we devoured the food stuffs that we had laid out on the tables and played Rock Band.
We had a very white Christmas. I don't think there has ever been this much snow on the ground since I moved to here. The Geo was completely covered with snow. About a half hour before midnight, Sarah had to go to the hospital because it seemed that she was having contractions. She didn't have the baby, much to her delight. Having a baby on Christmas wasn't what she wanted.
Although Christmas was over, that Saturday, I got another (late) present. My friend Kari came over and brought a movie called A Sound of Thunder for me. I have yet to watch it, but I shall soon. We then went to go see Bedtime Stories, which is hilarious, and then went to Wal*Mart to meet her friend. I held her purse the whole time we were there, trying my best to look the part of a gay guy :P It wasn't until we were leaving that it paid off as we passed some guy who made the comment, "Nice purse." We busted out laughing.
I had a great and awesome Christmas, and I hope you did too. I hope also that you remember what it is that Christmas is all about. Not the presents (though, admittedly, it does occupy a lot of my focus around this time of year), not the food, its not even about spending time with family (as much as sappy TV shows like to say). Those are all just bonus features that we all like to enjoy. The true reason is to celebrate the birth of Christ. Remember this well.

Awesome Song
I was browsing YouTube and I found a song that I really liked. At first I thought that the song was kinda "meh" but after listening to it for a bit, it grew on me. The part that changed my opinion of it was the singing. The song is from a game called Persona 3 (which I've never played unfortunatly).
And in an unrelated note, go here.

Final Fantasy Main Theme is Awesome!
I hope that these past 13 days I have been able to teach you somewhat about Video Games. They aren't just about mindless Zombie killing or blatantly breaking the law. Some of them are, but there are many games that have a lot of thought and time put into it to make it something amazing, and yes, even awesome. The Final Fantasy games fall into this category of video games.
They guy who cuts in at the middle is Nobuo Uematsu, the guy who wrote all of this music.

LOLcats are Awesome!
Ages ago, (or perhaps just a few years), some internet geek decided to give this picture a caption. He decided that the cat would have low english speaking capabilities and would desire a cheeseburger. Thus, lolcats was born. Now geeks all over the world take pictures of their cats, make a silly caption, and upload them to icanhascheezburger.com, hoping for internet fame. It is standard issue that the cats have trouble speaking english correctly and several fads have developed. There is of course the cat wanting a cheeseburger, but there is also a walrus who is looking for his bucket that was stolen by a zookeeper, invisible items (bike, stereo, etc), and things like the hovercat and the monorail cat. If you ever need a good laugh, go find lolcats. Sometimes, an Internet geek decides to do something a little less than appropriate though, so watch out. Now for more kitties.
And we finally get an explanation.
I just can't help but laugh when I see this one. Mostly because its so true, cats seem to seek out food that will make them barf.
Well, tomorrow is Halloween, and after that its NaNoWriMo, see you in December.

My Nephews are Awesome!
It was a big party and there were lots of people there and there were lots of snacks to snack upon. It was a great opportunity to see my nephews and how they have grown since I've seen them. Take Jaron for example:
Jaron has gotten a lot more clingy to his mommy. Anyone who knows Heather will know why. Heather is a student teacher and is gone during the day. Poor Jaron isn't used to that. He feels like he needs to spend as much time with his mommy as possible, cuz he doesn't know when she might leave again. Don't worry Jaron, it won't last forever. Jaron decided that he liked the cupcakes that we had at the party (or at least the frosting); he had three of them. It wasn't long before we could see the affects so much sugar. He started going pretty crazy. But what about the birthday boy Asher?
Asher is now one years old. =D His hair was done up in a little mohawk and it was adorable. He hardly fussed at all the whole party, and when he did, it was only for a second. When he was sitting in his chair, he seemed content to just watch us. When he wasn't in his chair, he was in his daddy's arms. Asher seems to be very close to his mom and dad. If he started fussing, all it would take is for one of them to say something and he would calm down. He got a whole lot of presents. He would hold on to them for a second, and then throw it on the floor when the next one came. one of the presents was a toy cell phone, which was the one toy he didn't want to throw on the floor. He's only one, and he knows whats popular: cell phones baby. ...I... I don't have a cell phone yet...
For whatever reason, when grandma had Tayson and I came over, Tayson wanted me to hold him. ^_^ I was pretty happy with that. I hadn't really held him in a while, so I was surprised that he wanted to be with me and seemed so comfortable in my arms. Maybe he is like that with everybody. Tayson has a unique way of showing affect/playing with you. He likes to head bump. He'll lean in and try to bump your head with the help of whomever is holding him at the time. Everybody awesome got a head bump (Note: Rachelle wasn't there, she didn't get a head bump). Tayson is also probably the tannest baby I know.
But wait, I have one more nephew. Nobody has really seen him yet. He's still in his mommy's belly. That's right, Tristan! I heard John and Sarah talk about how he's been kicking around in his mommy's belly. Sometimes, when that happens, John will lay his hand on Sarah's belly, and the kicking will stop. Tristan already knows his daddy. I'm very much looking forward to meeting Tristan when he makes like a baby, and heads out :P (I heard that one from Sarah).
You guys have such cute babies, even if we can't see one of them yet ^_^

Final Fantasy VII is Awesome!
Final Fantasy VII is the seventh installment in the series (NO WAY!) and is often considered the most popular. It was the first game in the series to come out on a Sony Console and the first to use 3D graphics. When it came out, it had some of the best graphics in a video game people had ever seen. Compared to today's standards, the graphics are laughable, but eleven years ago (wow, it's been that long?) people were amazed. It is the best selling Final Fantasy game, and the second best selling game on the Playstation. Even today, many people consider it to be the best game of all time. There are usually two kinds of gamers when it comes to FF7, those who think its one of the best things to ever happen, or those who can't stand the first kind.
Final Fantasy VII is set in a dystopian world and the plot follows the Character Cloud. Yes, his name is Cloud, don't ask, I don't know why either. Cloud is a mercenary, and at the start of the game is working for a group called AVALANCHE. Lots of stuff happens. LOTS OF IT! IT would take ages to try and explain the plot to FF7. AGES! Not only does it have a lot of stuff, but it is one of the most confusing stories I've ever heard with so many twists and unexpected happenings that you have to play the game quite a few times to even begin to understand it. Final Fantasy VII was very different from all the other Final Fantasies. All the other games were in a much more fantasy style setting, while 7 was in a sci-fi setting. Most people didn't notice the difference however because this was the first one they played. That was the case with me. FF7 was the first one I played and I fell in love with the series.
What's this? How can the seventh game be the first one played? None of the Final Fantasy's are related to another (with the exception of the spin off titles). They each have different characters that tell a different story in a different world. They only thing that holds them together is the title and the people who make them.
Final Fantasy VII really draws you in. You connect with the characters on an emotional level, (even if they look like Lego people). Near the start of the game, you meet a character names Aeris (Aerith in Japan). Aeris is probably the favorite character for most people who play the game. She is fun and happy and takes away from the bleak outlook that is plaguing the world you are in. You know that what you are doing is serious, but Aeris just makes it fun. But then the unthinkable happens. She dies!
(Warning: Following video shows the death scene for Aeris. Some may not want to watch. If you are worried about blood, don't be, there isn't any.)
(In case you are wondering, no, Cloud didn't immediately take Aeris to her grave site and let her sink the moment it happened, there is a battle first, and then that second part happens.)
Did you see that! Sephiroth killed her! @_@ The music just made the scene better (and by better, I mean sadder) and I was literally yelling at the TV screen when I first saw this. Suddenly, the game is much more serious. Not only do you have to stop Sephiroth because he's planning on destroying the world in the worst way imaginable, but he also killed Aeris, and there is no way you are going to take that lying down. Honestly, this is probably one of the saddest moments in Video Game history.
Final Fantasy VII's popularity has led SquareEnix to make a ton of spin off titles ten years later. They made a movie sequel to it, a game that follows the events of the movie, a prequel game, and others. The list goes on. SquareEnix is milking Final Fantasy VII for all its worth, and most people are okay, if not very happy, with that.
Final Fantasy VII is still considered a great game by many, despite all the imperfections that it's bundled with, such as now horrible graphics and a sometimes laughable translation. Yet people still love it. It's still great, and forever will be.
I'm thinking of adding an ending thing to my posts, but can't think of anything :P

Awesome Pictures!
Now for today's awesome. I give you: Pictures of Awesome!
Laughed out loud when I saw this. (Whats this? LaTerry didn't use lol!?)
You really are.
It's true, I've tried and tried, and it just won't work without me.
Depends on the wizard actually. If Gandalf turned me into a whale, then yes, that would be very awesome.
If I ever get an office, I'm going to hang this on my door.

Super Mario RPG is Awesome!
A great thing happened to me not to long ago. Super Mario RPG came out on virtual console! There probably aren't many of you who understand the enormity of that statement. Super Mario RPG was the first Mario RPG game, and as such, is the father of them all. The Mario RPG's are all excellent games and they fill me with happy. What makes Super Mario RPG even better is that SquareEnix (then known as simply as Square) helped Nintendo make it! When I found that this game was available for Virtual Console, nothing else mattered until I got that game! Luckily, my littlest of brothers had a handy 10 bucks, and it only cost 8. Next thing you know, I was playing Super Mario RPG. :D
Seriously, its a great game. I'm not the only one who thinks so. The day after it came out, it was already on the most popular list. It has a huge internet following, as evidenced by the following video made by a fan with two much time on his hands.
(Warning: The following video has two swear words. Hopefully, you won't notice, I sure didn't the first time I watched it.)
(Note: Don't worry when you can't hear the first people taking, nobody can. They're just talking about Mario.)
Super Mario RPG represents the first (and one of the only) Mario games where the main point of the game ISN'T to rescue the princess and beat Bowser. In fact, Bowser and the Princess join your team and help you beat the real bad guy.
Super Mario RPG also introduced Geno. Geno is probably the coolest character in the game (in any Mario game). He is a star being that possesed a doll, and because of that, he can make his body do a lot of epic stuff. He can launch his arm, his fingers are little guns, he can unhitch his knee and fire a shot from it, and he can turn into a cannon. He also has the only attack in the game (Geno Whirl) that can hit 9999 damage if you use it correctly. Unfortunatly, Geno is owned by SquareEnix and hasn't appeared in any other games since then, besides one little cameo in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga as a mini game. We miss you Geno, we miss you.
Yeah, I really like this game. :)

NaNoWriMo is Awesome
NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Its an event that takes place in November and has a lot of participants, including me. The point of NaNo is to write 50,000 words in the month of November. It can't be from a book you have already started beforehand, it must be a new novel. You start at midnight November first and write as much as possible, the goal being 50,000 words by November 30th 11:59 PM. You can write whatever you want, be it fanfiction, random silliness that comes to mind, or something that you want to be published later on.
I am participating in NaNoWriMo this year. What? Are you crazy? Probably. I'm totally unsure of how I will do, seeing as how most of my writing has been painfully slow up to this point, but I am willing to try. All I have to do is write about 1,667 words a day, not that hard right? Maybe, I don't know yet. All I know is that I'm very excited about participating.
During the month of November, don't attempt to communicate with me. My goal is to be writing whenever I have free time, and I have a lot of free time. That will be a little difficult because the TV is in the same room as the computer. I will either have to write when my siblings are at school, or at times like this when I am feeling extra nocturnal. Maybe my dad will let me use his office when it becomes particularly noisy in this room. That would help a bunch.
So far, one of my friends (the one who introduced me to NaNo) is doing it with me and we both intend to cheer each other on. If you are feeling particularly crazy, I recommend trying it with me. Go here if you wish to try: http://www.nanowrimo.org/. If you feel very much like a sane person, it would help a lot for you to a) not criticize my decision, and b) ask me how I'm doing every once in a while. I know myself very well, and I know that I am a champion procrastinator. I may find myself at the fourth week of November having only written the first day. I wouldn't be surprised. If one of you ask me how I'm doing now and then, or pretend to be excited to read what I've written, then I'll be much less likely to procrastinate in such a terrible manner.
So yeah, during November, don't expect my blog to update very much unless its to say how I'm doing. I have a small inkling of an idea of what I'll be writing. I need to work on it a lot before I actually start in November. So far, I think that my title is "The True Story of Roswell, New Mexico (A Blatant Fiction.)"
I think the hardest part will be for me to not edit as I go. Editing takes time and removes words, and I can't afford that.
My heavens what have I done?

Facebook is Awesome
My wonderful sister Cherisa suggested that I do facebook on this blog. Facebook has an appreciable level of awesome, so I complied.
Facebook is a website where you can connect with your friends in all sorts of way. You can message them (easy email), you can poke them (useless but silly), you can write on their walls for everyone to see, and you can chat with them. I know some people who basically live on facebook. When they get on the computer, facebook is the first and last thing they do.
I am not a social person by nature, so I don't enjoy facebook as other people do, but even for someone like me, facebook can offer a lot. Just the other day, I found my long lost best friend who I haven't seen since probably the 5th grade on facebook. That was a happy thing indeed.
What I really use facebook for is the apps. The apps are little side things that you can do when not chatting with friends. Two apps that I like are Pet Dragons and Mob Wars. They've become the only thing I do on facebook now. In Pet Dragons, you raise your own dragon to be the best, and since I love dragons, I use it a lot. Mob Wars is a neat little game where you make your own mob. The size of your mob depends on how many friends you have, so my mob is pretty small.
Facebook has something for everyone. It really is a pretty neat place. I'm sure that everyone reading this however, already has an account :P
If I had to choose between facebook and myspace, I would choose facebook.

Metal Gear Solid is Awesome
When you insert Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, there is an epic opening scene with some amazing music that wont leave my head for a good couple of days having just listened to it.
Epic. This game has some bonus features and in those bonus features you can read "articles" written by some of the characters from the first game that reveals a lot you didn't know was happening in the first game and what has happened since the first game to the second one.
This game differs from the first in that Snake is not the main character. A lot of fans weren't happy about that, but they bore with it. You play as Snake for about the first two hours of the game, infiltrating a tanker that is rumored to hold a new type of Metal Gear. You learn that Snake no longer is working for the government, as they didn't treat him very well in the last game. Snake's portion of the game ends with the tanker sinking and things looking bad for our hero. You then play as a character whose codename is Raiden. Raiden is sent to an ocean clean up facility that was supposedly built to clean the mess left from the tanker that sank two years earlier (the one Snake was on) because the President is being held hostage by a group of terrorists. Raiden is told that Snake is the one who is holding the president hostage and was responsible for the tanker sinking. Having just played as Snake, you know that this cannot be true. You eventually meet up with Snake who has infiltrated the facility himself in order to find out who is doing things in his name. You eventually learn that it is another brother of Snake (Solidus Snake) who is behind all the badness. There is even more government conspiracy in this game. Solidus is holding the president hostage and threatening to detonate a powerful nuclear bomb on American soil because he wants to dethrone a group called the Patriots, who apparently control the United States government. In the last five minutes of the game, more plot twists are introduced than you can keep track of and you would have to play it a few times to ever make sense of what is happening. It still confuses me. The game ends with more questions than answers. Maybe they will answer them in the next game?
In Metal Gear Solid Three: Snake Eater, Snake still isn't the main character. Instead, you play Snake's father, codenamed Naked Snake, way back in the cold war. Snake's mission is to escort a Russian scientist across the border to safety. The mission goes to ruin as a famous American soldier, and Snake's mentor, codenamed The Boss, defects to the Soviet Union. The Boss brings a nuclear weapon to the Soviet Union and joins a group in the Soviet army that is plotting against the Soviet government. Snake is nearly killed in a run in with The Boss but he learns that a horrible nuclear weapon, called the Shagohod, is being developed. A week later, Snake must return to the same area and destroy the Shagohod and kill The Boss in order to prevent an all out nuclear war with the Soviet Union. Along the way, Snake learns of the Philosophers, who later become the Patriots. When Snake learns why The Boss defected at the end of the game, he becomes disgusted with the United States government and later becomes Big Boss. This game does answer some of the questions you have about the plot, but not all. Maybe Metal Gear Solid 4 answers them all.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots finally lets you control Solid Snake again. Something is a little different though. He's old. Because of genetic experiments the goverment did on him, he ages very rapidly. He's still awesome though. I haven't yet beat MGS4, so I don't knw if it answers all the questions I still have about the series. I have to play it more to find out. Since this will be the last game, I think its safe to say that yes, it does.
Snake was also featured in Super Smash Brothers Brawl on a side note. The creators of both games are friends, which is how this came about.
Keep in mind that all the games in the Metal Gear Solid series are rated M for mature. The series is not for children. Even so, John and I very much enjoy these games and think that they are worth playing.
All the games in the series are very cinematic, and long cut scenes are a big part of it. Some say that playing the game can be like watching a very long movie that you play a bit. Even if the cut scenes can get a little long, they are all very well done.
MGS is awesome!

Invader Zim is Awesome!
Invader Zim was a show on Nickleodeon that ran for almost two seasons. It was one of their best shows and because of a deleted scene that they accidentily showed, it lost popularity and was cancelled :(
Invader Zim is about an incompetent Irkin alien that was sent to Earth to invade it. The aliens that sent him were hoping that he would be lost in space (they didn't think Earth even existed) because he is a menace to the Irkin Empire. He has a little phycotic robot sidekick named G.I.R. that basicly insures that all of his plans fail miseribly (they would fail anyway, but Gir makes them explode in failure).
This was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen and though it has been cancelled, it still has an immense fan following. Here are some clips that show Invader Zim's awesomeness.
That was Ultra Peepi, the hamster that Zim mutated to Godzilla proportions because humans have a weakness for cute hamsters. It failed.
This just showcases Gir's insanity, just a little bit.
More insane Gir and showcasing Zim's personality.
This next video is about four minutes of Gir, arguably the best character. Its insane. You have been warned.

Alisha's Awesome!
Mashed potatoes can be eaten alone or with gravy. If you are like my little brother, than there are endless ways to eat them, like sticking carrots in it or something wierd like that.
To make mashed potatoes, you must start with normal potatoes.
Then you MASH them >:^D
...Or you could peel them and cut them up and put em in a pot and put the pot on the stove. Either way.
If you wish, you may still comment on the Tell Me Your Awesome post.

Kirby is awesome!
That song was called Checkered Knights which is from the game Kirby Air Ride, and was included in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Its on my music playlist if you want to hear the full song. Kirby can dance!
Whoever made this one has a lot of free time. This one also shows off the awesome of Falcon PAWNCH! This video is from the original Smash Bros. Kirby has the ability to copy other players abilities and he has copied Captain Falcon's Falcon PAWNCH! (and some others). When this video hit youtube it's view count grew at an incredible speed, gaining 500,000 in just a few days. It has almost 2 million views now.
Kirby likes to dance to Caramelldansen. I think this was made by the same guy who did the first video (its hard to tell because they are japanese videos). This video combines the awesome of Kirby and Caramelldansen.
Here is another video. Its not a youtube so I can't put the video directly on the blog like the others. Kirby is again dancing to a very popular song.

Caramelldansen is Awesome!
Caramelldansen started in Sweden (of all places) and became insanely popular in the internet. Japan saw it for the awesomeness that it was and made it popular. There is a little flash animation inJapan that has two characters from the anime Potopan dancing to it. Since then, hundreds of other video's were made using various characters doing the same dance the original Potopan characters did. Doing the dance is simple, just shake your hips back and forth and put your hands to your head like bunny ears just like the characters in the video. The version of the song in the above video is a remix (the speedycakes remix) of the original song, which can be found here.
Oh and I chose that particular video of Caramelldansen because it combines two awesomes, Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Caramelldansen. If you have been really paying attention to my blog, you would have noticed that Caramelldansen is a song in my playlist that is to the side of these posts.

What an Awesome Stormtrooper!
Apparently this guy is pretty famous in Tokyo for this and many other things. This isn't the only time he danced around Tokyo. He has quite a few videos of him doing it. Lucasfilm even sent him an email saying he made them giggle.

Awesome Webcomic
I'll now take the time to introduce you to one of my favorite webcomics. Its called "Count Your Sheep." Its an incredibly family friendly comic and I think everyone can enjoy it. It's about a little girl named Katie and her imaginary friend Ship, who is a sheep. Katie's mom can also see Ship as he was her imaginary friend when she was a girl. Despite being incredibly cute, its also awesome. I highly recommend it.

Awesome Youtube Video!
Now time for one of my favorite videos. Why is it one of my favorites? Because I'm the star! The video is of me dancing to the english (and inferior) version of Numa Numa. The original version of the song in romanian is much better, but unfortunalty the D.J. didn't know that. If it had been the orginal version, the video would have been better because I know that one by heart, but nevertheless, the video is still awesome. Mostly because I'm in it :P
